  A computer-based system that employs horizontal data integration technologies for tracking, managing, sharing, and retrieving information; effective communication; and education.
Designed For:
  State, Regional, and Local Governments, agencies, and entities at all levels, and the private sector.
Primary Goal:
  Establish a coordinated, cooperative, central information repository capable of integrating data in real-time to support effective planning, prevention, and interventions.
Primary Function:
  Incorporates information access from multiple database sources simultaneously into a "one-source reservoir."
Integral Components:
  Preparedness planning initiatives of the CYBERSHIELD program provide for national, state, regional, and local capabilities. National consistency is addressed while allowing for state, regional, and local unique needs.  The applications of Information, Communication, Education, and resources management provide powerful mechanisms for prevention and protection while establishing preparedness and crisis responsiveness.
