COUNTERING TERRORISM THREATS: TRUCKING INDUSTRY AND MULTI-MODAL DISTRIBUTION NETWORK VULNERABILITIES
It is necessary to make America's trucking industry safe from the threat of terrorism and to enhance security while improving the industriy's operational efficiency. There are hundreds of thousands of hazardous cargo loads hauled on U.S. roadways every day. Each day gasoline tanker trucks make about 50,000 trips and trucks carrying chemicals represent an even greater risk. Terrorists therefore have an accessible reservoir of weapons primed and ready to go. A plan to enhance training of drivers and security and safety managers to be aware of potential terrorist threats is required and must include a security risk assessment process.

STUDY SHOWS COSTS OF TERROR WAR AT $137 BILLION AND COUNTING
Finally a compilation of the costs so far for the War on Terrorism. The costs go beyond the government, also looking at those for the private sector, and state and local interests. The estimates are astonishing with $137 Billion for 2002 and $252 Billion for 2003. Dr. Saul B. Wilen, president of International Horizons Unlimited views these numbers as "conservative." He asks, "What are we getting for our money?"

THINK TANK REPORTS ESTIMATES US WAR ON TERRORISM WILL COST $252.5 BILLION IN FY2003
An analysis of the costs for America's War on Terrorism is long overdue. Such an analysis is now available with the information current through November 26, 2002. Bottom-line, $137.6 Billion spent in FY2002, and $252.5 Billion committed for FY2003.
